Protector No. 6: Knowledge

from 15.00

No. 6/10 of the Protector Series: I am selling prints and original drawings of Protectors to raise funds for organizations or causes.

The Protector of Knowledge, also known as The Searcher, is an ancient being that has been wandering the earth for millennia, observing, thinking, and gathering knowledge. The Searcher’s aspiration is to unravel the mysteries of the universe, and to discover the inner workings of life. It stores the wisdom that it’s acquired in its large black eggs, which it lays every one hundred years or so. The eggs are heavier than stones, and sink into the earth, where they remain eternally warm to the touch. If discovered, an egg can give the discoverer a burst of insight into a specific subject, imbuing them with exceptional knowledge or a new way of looking at the world. Eggs have been uncovered by several well-known minds throughout history, including Hypatia, Isaac Newton, Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie, Charles Darwin, and Katherine Johnson. It is unclear whether the eggs ever hatch, and, if they do, what emerges from them.

Profits will go to Black Girls Code, whose mission is "to increase the number of women of color in the digital space by empowering girls of color ages 7 to 17 to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures through exposure to computer science and technology."

The original drawing ($150) is matted and framed in an 8 x 10" frame. Archival prints ($15) are 8.5 x 11", printed on premium Legion Somerset paper.
